One Last Date Night....?

Last night, Kevin and I went to Tim's Rivershore II in Fairview Beach to celebrate a friend's birthday. I know it probably won't be our last "kid free" Saturday night, but I'm pretty confident it was the last time I'm going to feel like staying out past 8 p.m.

Random Thoughts

  • Due Dates don't mean diddly...As my doctor told me yesterday, he wished expectant mothers (and fathers) were never given a specific due date; rather, they should be told your baby's due sometime in August or sometime late summer. I can understand where he's coming from especially since NOTHING is happening "down there" for me. Put simply, my cervix is about as secure as Fort Knox right now, and I swear this child is getting higher, not lower. As Daddy says to my belly, "Brayden, come out, come out wherever you are...".

  • Earplugs should be worn at all times as soon as you find out you're pregnant...No, I don't mean your spouse should wear them to tune you out - pregnant women should be issued earplugs. EVERYONE has an opinion about your pregnancy. For example, yesterday at Target, the sales lady said to me, "Let me guess, you're due in about six weeks, right honey?" My response was, "Try six days." She then went on to dig her hole deeper and said, "By the way you're carrying it, it's gotta be a girl." Ummm...No....Two strikes, you're out. On to the next aisle.

  • Even nesting gets old after a while...That one drawer left to organize? It's done. I'm ready to take over my friends' houses for cleaning and organizing, just so I can pass the time in some sort of productive way. Kevin suggested reading, but my attention span is about two minutes, unless of course it's a pregnancy or breast feeding magazine or book (even those are getting repetitive).

Daddy's Good Looks?

For those of you that were able to make out a face in the Ultrasound, here's a picture of Kevin as a baby (ironically, it was taken March 15, just three days before I was born). Can you see the resemblance? Maybe I'm imagining it, but I think he favors his father - that pug nose, those full cheeks. Maybe this means he'll have my red hair. Time will tell... Posted by Picasa

Are his big brothers ready?

Next to the curiousity that comes with meeting our son for the first time (will he be big or small? have brown hair or red hair? have lots of hair or no hair?), we're most curious to know how Romeo and Hoolio respond to Brayden's arrival. For the last year, these insane cats have ruled the house and had Daddy's undivided attention. I suspect they're not going to flinch and will continue to be the kings of the castle... My glamorous belly at 38 weeks (lots of freckles, but no stretch marks!!!)...Sorry about the seven month sabbatical from posting. Now that our due date is less than two weeks away, I'm not as concerned about jinxing our good fortune (yes, a small part of me is still paranoid - a nice way of saying scared - but I know I'll regret it if I don't make a few entries before Brayden Philip's arrival). Perhaps I'm nesting...???
